Tricycle
Sometimes you can have this great idea, but absolutely nowhere to use it.
What do you do?
This is how Tricycle got its start.
It's no secret that we like jazz. From the original sounds of Coltrane and Satchmo to the modern sounds of Fourplay, Albright and Ronnie Jordan, jazz is a great way to relax and unwind after a long stressful day.
Na$h was playing with our favorite piece of "quick-and-easy" software---Ejay Hip Hop 4---and found some really smooth samples. He quickly started adding more samples and created this really sweet tune.
A meeting was called to hear what he had created.
We all loved it. It was very smooth and jazzy, yet still had an urban funk feel to it.
That's when we hit that proverbial wall.
Who could we give it to?
We could let any of our talented roster of singers use it, but Na$h felt that he wanted to do a jazz project, and as such wanted it to be an entirely different project.
So we decided to create a group to "perform" the jazz tunes that were to be created.
Next step: giving the group a name.
"Tricycle" was used simply because the name jumped out at us while looking at a pad that Na$h's wife used to jot down key words at a class she was attending.
Next time: Building the group.
